Much of the work done by participants on my drawing courses has been good and some has been outstanding, but whatever level is reached, it’s the drawer’s aptitude and involvement which is the key. This is because I place high value on real life interaction and witness to reality.  Besides, without the drawer’s application, my guidance is pointless.  My role has been simply to guide everyone’s powers of observation and to impart the procedures necessary to draw with a high degree of objective accuracy.  Accurate objective drawing is primarily about looking and understanding:  it’s not about expression or invention although it may ultimately lead that way.
